"My passionate wish is to enable a peaceful farewell for your pet when the time is right, surrounded by loving family and home comforts, with empathy and kindness "
Dr Julie Turner BVetMed MRCVS
I provide gentle euthanasia in your own home in Anglesey and North Wales.
I am often available at weekends and Bank Holidays at no extra charge. Please feel free to contact me - phone or text gets my attention most quickly. I can sometimes provide a rapid response, but I am not always quickly available. So I advise you to talk to/message me in advance of a crisis despite it being hard to imagine losing your beloved pet - it really helps to plan.
About me, I gained my degree from The Royal Veterinary College and have more than thirty-five years of experience as a veterinary surgeon. I lived in the Chilterns for thirty years, then moved to North West Wales.. I am learning the Welsh language and in the future, hope to be able to understand my clients in whichever language they prefer.
Among my varied veterinary roles, I have worked with the RSPCA in a well-known London Animal hospital, had my own practice, and worked in a specialist cat practice on the South Coast.
My primary focus has always been the welfare of my furry patients, aiming to provide the best of care to them and their owners. Until 2015 I ran my own practice with my husband, Richard and our fantastic team. I hold a particular interest in holistic care, animal welfare and pain alleviation, and so helping pets and owners smoothly through euthanasia seems a natural progression. The link to the Rainbow Bridge concept was in my mind for years.
We have three dogs - two Standard Poodles called Finn the elder and Luca the younger, plus youngest Nelly, the determined Weimaraner. We are also employed as staff by a rescue cat, Vic, from a Buckinghamshire churchyard. Sadly, Princess Katie recently went to the Rainbow Bridge, and Florence unexpectedly followed a few months later.
Euthanasia more usually involves an element of pet restraint and often takes place in a clinical environment. I began sedating pets before giving the final medication many many years ago, resulting in gentler and less 'clinical' euthanasia. I later observed how much easier and less stressful it was for everyone involved, when this was in a familiar place, surrounded by loving family.
I found and read the Rainbow Bridge poem soon after the death of our beloved Elsa, the best nanny-dog Weimaraner in the world. The poem helped me come to terms with her loss.
I now provide bespoke and sensitive euthanasia for pets in their own home (or garden) rather than their having the strain of a journey to a surgery or hospital. Sometimes Richard lends a hand if extra support is needed. My passionate wish is to enable a peaceful death for your pets, surrounded by loving family and home comforts, with empathy and kindness.
**Please note, my service area is now North Wales and Anglesey**
